Co-op Memberships

Co-operatives are guided by seven internationally recognized principles, very similar to those adopted by a small group of progressive thinkers who formed one of the world's first Co-operatives in Rochdale, England in 1844.

  1. Voluntary and Open Membership
  2. Democratic Member Control
  3. Members Economic Participation
  4. Autonomy and Independence
  5. Education, Training and Information
  6. Co-operation Among Co-operatives
  7. Concerns for Community
