Our Corporate Safety & security Department is a KEY component of our operations at Red Deer Co-Op. Canadian retailers are fighting an
Ongoing battle against theft, fraud, robbery & vandalism. They are loosing billions of dollars to these crimes each year. Red Deer Co-Op is committed to protecting its member’s assets. The Corporate Safety & Security TEAM will contribute to the profitability of the company by minimizing losses through internal/external arrests and reducing injuries at work.
Our staff has equal focus on Safety & Security to Sales. Our commitment of quality service is achieved through a combination of a safe work place and security conscious employees. Since 2006, Red deer Co-Op has achieved it’s COR (Certificate Of Recognition) and maintained it with high score. We are proud to be in partnership with “PIR” (Partners in Injury Reduction) Program.

Brock Myrol
Memorial Scholarship
The Brock Myrol Memorial Scholarship is awarded once annually to an individual wishing to pursue an education in law enforcement and\or security. All applicants must be residents of Red Deer, Alberta for a period not less than (3) years and be actively engaged within their community.
The members of the Scholarship Committee and their immediate families will not be permitted to apply for this scholarship. Any individuals that have previously received the scholarship are exempt. Each applicant will be required to complete Parts 1, 2 and 3 outlined below. The successful candidate will be required to submit to a criminal background check which will be conducted by the RCMP prior to receiving this scholarship. If it is determined that the candidate is not suitable to receive the award, the scholarship committee will choose a new recipient.
PART I
Prepare and submit a resume detailing educational background, employment history, skills, hobbies, interests, organizations and\or clubs you participate in. Your resume should include a covering letter that introduces you, discusses your future goals and how this scholarship will assist you.
PART II
Complete a 2500 word essay on one of the following (3) topics:
1. The Importance of Crime Prevention in your Community
2. Improvements to our Justice System
3. The Role of Security Professionals in Alberta
PART III
Applicants must be full time students accepted at and attending an accredited post-secondary institution in Canada commencing the fall of the current academic year. Please provide proof of registration along with the above submissions. All applications must be accompanied by (2) character references and a passport size photo. Scholarships may vary in value up to $2000.00 and will be awarded by the end of July, each year.
